Rainer Nowak

Rainer is a consultant with KPMG Canada with over 30 years’ experience in consumption taxation, both in Canada and internationally.

Over the course of his career with the Department of Finance and Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), Rainer was a key player in a wide range of GST/HST initiatives, including the introduction of the HST in Ontario and the Financial Services Review. He was also Canada’s representative to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) on consumption tax matters and participated extensively in the development of the OECD’s International VAT/GST Guidelines and the Base Erosion and Profit Sharing (BEPS) initiative.
