Phil King

Phil is the Director General of the Sales and Excise Tax Division at Finance Canada. The Division is responsible for developing policy in respect of the Goods and Services Tax, alcohol and tobacco taxes, and more recently, cannabis taxation and carbon pricing. Previously, he was the Director General of Economic Analysis and Forecasting at the Department, and advised the Department and Minister of Finance on all aspects of Canada’s macroeconomic performance and outlook. He has a Master’s degree in economics from the University of Western Ontario.
