Norm Rinne

Norm works for Kinder Morgan, where he leads all early project development and commercial opportunities for existing and new business in Western Canada. Norm began developing the expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline to Canada’s west coast a decade ago. The expansion would see almost a tripling of the current capacity from 300,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 890,000 bpd, offering Canadian producers valuable diversification and access to markets in the Pacific Rim.

Norm has been with Kinder Morgan and its predecessor companies since 1990. Prior to that, he worked with Gulf Canada Resources in Calgary when oil was discovered in Beaufort Sea in the 1980s and practiced as a geotechnical engineering consultant in Vancouver.

Norm holds a civil engineering degree from the University of Waterloo and a master’s degree in geotechnical engineering from the University of British Columbia.
