Nicola (Nickie) M. Young

Nickie, an MBA and professor emerita (accounting) at Saint Mary’s University, has taught financial accounting and reporting issues for many years. She has received teaching awards and has contributed to the life of the university through membership on the board of governors, the faculty union, the pension committee and many other departmental and faculty committees.

Nickie was associated with accounting student education at the Atlantic School of Chartered Accountancy from 1975 to 2000. She has been active in the accounting profession, serving on legacy boards of CPA Canada, dealing with licensure, standard-setting, education and governance. Nickie continues to enjoy her work with the Public Sector Accounting Board and many of its task forces, and has for more almost 30 years. She is the co-author of five editions of the most widely used Canadian intermediate accounting text, and of the IFRS Primer: International GAAP Basics (Canadian and U.S. editions).
