Nalini Bhargava
Nalini has served the Ontario Real Estate association for more than 26 years, heading its finance department, achieving operational efficiencies and instituting state-of-the-art financial information platforms. Prior to that, she worked as a management consultant and public accountant in Toronto, supervising operations reviews and audits of institutions in the health care industry, government agencies and manufacturing companies.
Nalini began her career as a Chartered Accountant in India, where she was, at that time, the only woman in the state in her chosen field. She became a CA after obtaining a bachelor of science degree with honours in physics and mathematics. She continued studying for a law degree while working as a management consultant, designing the financial accounting system for a public utility company as part of a World Bank project. Upon immigration to Canada in 1983, she obtained the CPA Canada designation with distinction within a short 18 months. She continued with her financial career, including strategic planning, needs assessment, budgetary control and overall financial management.
Aside from her financial career, Nalini is actively involved in community service with a not-for-profit organization that provides specialized education to adults. She is involved with fundraising for education and health care for needy children. In her spare time, Nalini climbs mountains in Tibet, Hawaii and on the sunny coastline of California.
