Mike Morrice

Mike is the executive director of Sustainability CoLab, a non-profit that helps communities across Ontario build a more sustainable economy, born out of the success of Sustainable Waterloo Region.

Mike founded Sustainable Waterloo Region in 2008 and launched a program that, within five years, had engaged 14 per cent of Waterloo Region's workforce, supported businesses to reduce 27,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas and become financially self-sufficient. It has become a model that CoLab has helped replicate in communities across Ontario. Named an Ashoka Fellow in 2012, Mike is one of 52 Canadians within a global community of leading social entrepreneurs, each with a new ‘knock-out’ idea and high potential to scale their impact. CoLab was awarded the Minister’s Award for Environmental Excellence in 2015 and Mike was recently named to the 2017 Clean16 for CoLab’s contributions to “clean capitalism” at the city level across Canada.
