Michelle Tocher

Michelle joined EY in 2016 and is the National Leader of EY’s Tax Technology and Transformation practice. She works with multinational organizations to redefine their tax function and navigate the digital revolution. Michelle has assessed and redesigned operating models and end-to-end tax processes for her clients. She has delivered pointed solutions to address challenges as well as designed and implemented longer term tax technology roadmaps and solutions. She brings a proven track record and natural ability to redesign functional teams and processes to create maximum value. Michelle has an intuitive approach to developing efficient structures necessary to harness ideas and teams to achieve short and long-term goals.

Prior to joining EY, Michelle worked 22 years in industry in roles that spans Tax, Accounting & Finance. She is the former Director of Tax at a multinational Oil & Gas corporation and was the Controller at an Oilfield Service Company. Michelle has led transformation projects in each of her roles and has in-depth experience in various systems (ERP, Consolidation systems, databases and ETL tools).

Michelle is an avid Public speaker and Facilitator – she regularly speaks at conferences (Tax Executives Institute, Canadian Tax Foundation, Canadian Petroleum Tax Society and Digital Tax forums), delivering powerful messages on the art of the possible and automating tax processes.
