Michael Cocolakis

Michael Cocolakis is the Director of Economic Research at BDC, the only bank devoted exclusively to Canadian entrepreneurs. Michael manages BDC’s Economic Research team, which produces research about a diverse set of topics affecting small and medium-sized businesses in Canada. Through research, Michael and his team help entrepreneurs understand the risks and opportunities presented by the economic environment.

Prior to his work at BDC, Michael was a Senior Manager within KPMG’s Advisory Services where he worked on a number of research studies on Canada’s manufacturing sector as well as business cases to support investments in large infrastructure and capital projects in Canada. Michael has also worked as an Economist at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat and the Department of Finance Canada, where his work included drafting policy documents for senior management and cabinet committees.

Michael holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Economics from McGill University and is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charterholder.
