Kristen Burnell

Kristen (she/her/hers) is the executive director at the Global Financial Literacy Excellence Center (GFLEC) at the George Washington University School of Business. Kristen applies her expertise in financial literacy and education to shape the overall goals and strategy of the centre as well as to promote the development and measurement of financial education programs globally. She joined GFLEC in 2012.

Previously, she spent seven years teaching high school social studies in New York City and Connecticut. Prior to teaching, she worked in development at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Kristen earned a BA in history from the University of California, San Diego, and an MA in social studies education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
