Ken Douglas

BSc.(Hons.), MBA, MEng.

Ken is a principal in the Tax Services group at Grant Thornton LLP in Edmonton, where he leads the Western Canadian R&D and Government Incentives service line. He has more than 18 years of experience in engineering, research and development and Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) in a variety of industries including oil and gas, manufacturing, green-tech, electronics, software and physics.

Ken is a current member of the SR&ED Advisory Group for Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and is the co-chair of the advisory group’s technical sub-committee. He is a former research and technology advisor with the SR&ED program in the prairie region, focusing on software, IT, electrical engineering and manufacturing claims. Prior to joining the CRA, Ken worked in the private sector as an engineer with a large oil and gas service provider and as a project manager in the marine construction industry, where he also managed his company’s internal SR&ED claims.

Ken holds a Master of Electrical Engineering in control systems, an MBA and an Honours Physics degree from the University of Alberta.
