Irene Wiecek, FCPA, FCA


Irene is involved in accounting and education at many levels from university, through to post certification. She has championed International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) education across North America and is currently working with the E&Y Academic Resource Centre in developing IFRS educational material for the Americas.

In addition, she sits on the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) Financial Reporting and Governance Working Group which has IFRS education in Canada as one of its main areas of focus.

Her interests lie in the area of international accounting and she has authored a book entitled The IFRS Primer — International GAAP Basics (with Nickie Young). She is the Canadian co-author of the leading text Intermediate Accounting by Kieso et al and is currently working on the latest edition of this book which will be the first fully integrated IFRS intermediate accounting text in North America. Irene is a faculty member at the Rotman School of Management, University of Toronto.
