Howard E. Johnson, MBA, FCA, FCMA, CBV, CPA, CFA, ASA, CF, C.DIR.

Howard is a managing director at Campbell Valuation Partners Limited (CVPL) in Toronto. Founded in 1976, CVPL is Canada's longest-established independent firm specializing in business valuation, damages quantification and related matters. Howard is also a managing director of CVPL's affiliate, Veracap Corporate Finance Limited, a member firm of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) International, the world's leading affiliation of M&A advisors.

Howard has rendered valuation advice and opinions in hundreds of engagements for mid-size and large public and privately held companies, as well as government agencies and other organizations in the context of shareholder disputes, shareholder dissent and oppression remedies, income tax restructuring, tax litigation, employee share ownership plans, financial reporting, fairness opinions and other purposes. He also advises business owners and executives on acquisitions, divestitures, private equity financing and strategic value initiatives.

Howard is the author of Building Value in Your Company (2011) and The Acquisition Value Cycle™ (2009), editor of Corporate Finance for Canadian Executives (2007), author of Selling Your Private Company (2005), co-author of Business Valuation (2001) and a contributing editor to Canada Valuation Service (periodical). He is a frequent speaker at conferences on the subjects of acquisitions, divestitures and shareholder value. In addition, Howard has served on the board of directors of public and private companies, and frequently acts as an expert witness on complex valuation matters before the courts.

Howard holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Concordia University (Governor General's Award, 1988), a Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy from McGill University (Kenneth F. Byrd Prize, 1989) and a masters degree in Business Administration from McMaster University (D.M. Heddon Gold Medal, 1992). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario, a Fellow of the Society of Management Accountants of Canada and holds the designations of Chartered Accountant (Corporate Finance specialization), Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Business Valuator, Certified Public Accountant, Accredited Senior Appraiser and Chartered Director.

Howard is an avid hockey player. He currently resides in Oakville, Ontario with his wife Julie, and their four children, Veronica, Michael, Laura and Russell.
