Daniel McKindsey

Daniel is an engineer and partner with the Deloitte tax group. He has 30 years of experience with successful and rapidly growing organizations in the aerospace/defence, technology and manufacturing sectors. His engineering, management and business experience includes extended periods as a research and development engineer and program manager, development manager of an Internet technology start-up, operations vice-president of an aerospace development firm and research and development (R&D) consultant.

For the past 15 years, Daniel has been with the Deloitte R&D and Government Incentives service line, assisting clients in claiming SR&ED tax credits in the high-tech and manufacturing industries. Daniel uses his in-depth understanding of technology and the development process to prepare the technical portion of claims, assist clients during reviews by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), and assist in the resolution of disputes with CRA. Since he joined Deloitte, Daniel has been extensively involved with complex mandates in a wide range of manufacturing and technology industries, including aerospace, transportation, pulp and paper, mining and metals, process manufacturing, automotive and software. Daniel is the national technical quality assurance and dispute resolution leader for Deloitte’s Canadian R&D practice.

He is also active in numerous CRA consultation processes and has been a member of joint CPA-CRA working groups on related topics.
