Dafna Carr

Dafna joined the Ontario Public Service in 2016 and became Associate Deputy Minister and Corporate Chief Information Officer (CCIO) in June of 2019. The CCIO Leads a talent pool of more than 4000 Information and Information Technology (l+IT) specialists including software developers, operators, integrators and analysts who develop, deploy and operate information technology solutions for the Government of Ontario in the areas of health, education, human services, the environment, the economy, justice and transportation.

Through strong knowledge of the business of government, and the application of the Latest technology and modern practices for iterative and collaborative solution development, the CCIO, CIOs and their teams work in partnership with their Ministries to modernize and transform service delivery for the people of Ontario. While running the operations of government, l+IT has enabled the delivery of innovative solutions that focus on better, faster and sustainable government processes and services.

As CCIO, Dafna is accountable for Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Technology Services. She also works in partnership with the Ontario Digital Service, and the Chief Data and Digital Officer, to bring the Digital Action Plan to Life with a focus on the user experience and a digital first approach.

Throughout her public sector career, Dafna has held positions at Health Quality Ontario, Cancer Care Ontario, University Health Network and Gamma-Dynacare Laboratories. In these organizations, she Led a series of Large-scale transformation projects enabled by technology and business intelligence, in areas such as cancer screening and cancer care, access to care, wait times, patient safety, and Laboratory operations.

Dafna holds a Master's in Business Administration from York University and has completed the Advanced Health Leadership Program at University of Toronto.
