Cheryl McGillivray

Cheryl is the Chief Accountant and CFO for the Alberta Securities Commission’s. In addition to overseeing the financial services of the ASC, her responsibility as Chief Accountant is to provide advise on complex financial reporting, auditing and related policy issues to internal and external stakeholders of the capital market.

Prior to her current role, Cheryl was the ASC Manager, Corporate Finance for 13 years with oversight responsibility of continuous disclosure filings, prospectus reviews and exemption applications. She was a senior-level contributor to several significant Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) projects, including being co-lead to the climate change-related risk project and certain reducing regulatory burden projects, and also serving as a committee member to the women on boards project. 

Cheryl is also the CSA representative for the User Advisory Committee to the Accounting Standards Board. She has also instructed several MD&A courses for CPA Alberta.

Prior to joining the ASC in 2006, Cheryl practiced at a large audit firm and following that held senior financial management roles for more than eighteen years in a variety of public and private industries, including insurance, real estate, and health.
