Barbara Amsden

MBA

With 25 years' financial services experience, Barb is responsible for key projects supporting the advancement of Canadian capital markets serving Canadians and Canada’s businesses and governments. Her areas of expertise include government finance, retirement savings and tax policy; dealer reporting and operations; and financial trends. Current priorities are facilitating cross-industry implementation of the Client Relationship Model — the biggest securities regulatory change in Canadian history — while helping monitor and shape the onslaught of new securities and tax rules.

Previously, Barb was director, Research at the Investment Funds Institute of Canada; executive director, Canadian Capital Markets Association; assistant vice-president of strategy and communications, Canadian Depository for Securities; and vice-president and treasurer of the Canadian Bankers Association. She also worked at Chase Manhattan Bank and Royal Bank of Canada.

Barbara has an MBA in International Business/Finance from McGill University, and BA in Russian/French and teacher’s certificate from Middlebury College, U.S.
