KMPG’s position on how Canada should handle treaty shopping

To help you understand KPMG LLP’s recommendation for how the federal government should tackle treaty shopping, Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) is providing you with access to the organization’s article on the topic.

In 2013 the Department of Finance Canada held formal consultations on possible measures to combat treaty shopping and its related negative impact on Canada’s tax base. The government’s course of action on this matter may have an impact on foreign-based multinationals and foreign corporations investing in or through Canada.

KMPG is advocating for Finance Canada to delay taking action on treaty shopping — find out why by checking out “New Treaty Shopping Rules — Should Canada ‘Wait and See’?”, published in the December 18, 2013 edition of its TaxNewsFlash Canada enewsletter.
