Interview with ISSB chair on the Montreal centre and other developments

Stay on top of the work that’s underway to establish the ISSB centre in Canada, and sustainability standards: watch Richard Olfert, chair, CPA Canada’s board of directors, interview the ISSB’s chair, Emmanuel Faber.

Emmanuel Faber, chair of the new International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), shares his expectations for the board’s centre in Montreal. Faber’s conversation with CPA Canada’s chair, Richard Olfert, took place during a visit to Canada by executives from the ISSB and the IFRS Foundation in April 2022. The delegation met with CPA Canada and a broad array of stakeholders, as plans progress on establishing the ISSB centre in Canada. Projected to open in late June 2022, the Montreal presence of the ISSB will play a leading role in the establishment of a new global sustainability standard-setting process.

The ISSB is also consulting on exposure drafts on its initial two standards, providing a key opportunity for Canadian stakeholders to engage until the July 29, 2022 deadline. The interview with Faber covers the national and international stakeholders’ recognition of Canada’s support of and commitment to sustainability, as well as the Canadian CPA profession’s role in sustainability and the respect for its trust and expertise in standards setting.
