As a Canadian accounting professional, you are right to be concerned about information technology (IT) security because emerging threats are significant and the risk of falling prey to malicious attacks is growing.

Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) recently commissioned Nielsen to conduct a study on information security for small and medium enterprises. The study found that small accounting firms, in particular, showed a surprising lack of adoption of some basic IT security practices, and had limited knowledge of proper protection.
