Become a CPA, CGA: Information for internationally trained accountants

If you are a member of an international accounting body that had a MRA with Certified General Accountants of Canada, you may be eligible to earn your Canadian credential by completing these steps.

The CPA profession is currently in the process of reviewing all legacy agreements. Until the reviews are completed, the legacy agreements with the international accounting bodies remain in place.

The steps needed to become a Canadian CPA vary depending on the individual agreement. Below are the accounting bodies that have an existing MRA with legacy CGA-Canada, the application process and answers to common questions you may have throughout the process:

Please note that MRAs with CGA-Canada do not apply in the province of Quebec, except for the MRA with Ordre des Experts-Comptables de France (OECF).
