Business Law: CPA preparatory courses

Learn about the Business Law CPA preparatory course.

If you are seeking admission to the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) or the Advanced Certificate in Accounting and Finance (ACAF), you can take CPA preparatory courses to gain the knowledge requirements you are missing.

Business Law is a self-study (non-core) course that provides an introduction to the Canadian legal system in the context of business, including:

  • tort law and contract law, covering specific contractual situations arising in transactions in:
    • real estate
    • business
    • securities
  • Canadian court procedures
  • laws governing:
    • insurance/guarantees
    • agency relationships
    • negotiable instruments
    • partnerships
    • incorporated businesses

The syllabus provides detailed information on the content of the course as well as the other CPA preparatory courses.
