Darwin Bozek


Darwin started his accounting career with Ernst and Young after playing professional hockey in the Los Angeles Kings organization. He moved to the Government of Alberta (GoA) with the Office of the Auditor General in 1991 and Advanced Education and Career Development in 1996.

In 2000 he transitioned to municipal government and joined the City of St. Albert as chief financial officer and returned to the GoA in 2004, as executive director of financial services with Alberta Finance. Darwin also served as the first chief financial officer for the Alberta Investment Management Corporation.

He became assistant deputy minister in 2008. This included the roles of senior financial officer and chief information officer.

Darwin was appointed controller for the Province of Alberta on July 24, 2012.

Darwin has a Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified General Accountant (CPA, CGA) designation and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta, major in accounting.
